Getting started with BrainStreamer

Concept

BrainStreamer allows you to keep track of all the information you need in your personal world.

It can keep track of all kinds of different information using a free form html text or specific items like Persons, Projects, Companies, Goals, Telephones, Internet contact information...

What makes BrainStreamer unique is that you can link all the information together the way you use it.

Let me repeat that: Linking the information the way you use it !!!

This to me seems very important and is something other applications are missing.

BrainStreamer shows it information in a Mind-Map like view.

But is more than a mind-map. Mind-map software is currently document oriented. You create a mind-map about something, and that's it, you have a document.

The real world doesn't work this way. Everything is linked.
That's why BrainStreamer exists.
Everything about a subject is in one place, and you can create links from one subject to multiple other subjects and information as you see fit.

You are the center

When starting BrainStreamer for the first time, You will see something like the following screen.
As you can see there is a little box with "Me" visible.
This will represent you, so, just enter your name and info in the fields in the right window.

Adding new information

To add new items to BrainStreamer, just press one of the toolbar buttons or press the INSERT key.
This will show a popup where you can enter your information.

The new Item will be added as a sub item of the currently selected item (the one with the nice blue border).

Navigation

Navigation in BrainStreamer is easy. Just use the keyboard arrow keys to move the selected item.
Pressing the HOME key will make the selected item your root item.
